Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimens perennial, G. 2n=30.60 diploid, tetraploid xeric psammophile sea shore species Atlantic-Baltic-Pontic (curiously the species is missing along the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea) Festucetea vaginatae, only along the sea shores R16 habitats       Typical for the sea shore sand dunes habitats.
